Neil Doncaster has warned Douglas Park that any legal action against the SPFL would be against the 42 clubs rather than the board.

On April 11 Douglas Park called for the suspensions of Doncaster and Rod McKenzie but on Tuesday the EGM motion for an independent investigation was overwhelmingly rejected.

Following that humiliation the Ibrox club made the predictable threat of further (legal) action to keep fans sweet but acting on that is unlikely.

Doncaster has already dropped hints that he has recorded a threatening phone call from the Ibrox interim Chairman and stepped up the pressure by explaining to The Sun what legal action would involve:

Ultimately any action that is taken by any club against the league is action taken against the clubs themselves. That is what the league is.

We don’t hold reserves. All of the money that comes into the league is used to run the league and then the surplus is distributed to clubs as fee payments.

Ultimately it is a decision for any club what it wishes to do, but any action taken would be against the clubs themselves. The message from the clubs is that they want us to look forward and we are certainly prepared to do that.

Park should have more pressing issues to deal with relating to his club’s finances.

Since 2013 under Charles Green Interim Accounts to 31 December have been published to comply with UEFA regulations for next season’s competitions.

Interim Accounts to 31 December 2019 haven’t yet surfaced which should prevent the SFA from nominating Steven Gerrard’s Europa heroes from being involved in the 2020/21 competition.
