Gareth McAuley’s bid to join the Scottish media circuit has been given the backing of Jim White.
The veteran broadcaster was quick to pick up on McAuley’s claim that Celtic’s title win was hollow and tainted, a claim that many would be put against every trophy at Ibrox since Ronald de Boer and Tore Andre Flo arrived on dual contracts.
McAuley enjoyed the briefest of swansongs at Ibrox during the 2018/19 season with the last of seven SPFL appearances coming in 2-1 defeat to Jordan Jones’ Kilmarnock two months after his 39th birthday.

Ally McCoist and Alex Rae have constantly been questioning Celtic’s ninth successive title win while overlooking the failings of Steven Gerrard.
A run of 17 points from 10 matches saw Celtic increase the gap to 13 points with Gerrard spinning excuses after watching his side lose from winning positions away to Kilmarnock and Hearts the watching Hamilton win 1-0 at Ibrox.
McAuley is expected to appear on Radio Scotland’s Sportsound podcast later this week.
