Sunday’s edition of The Sun claimed that the explosive Ibrox dossier would be revealed to all SPFL clubs on Tuesday, the smoking gun finally out in the open.

Over the weekend Tom English managed to create a diversion with his inability to distinguish between an advance and a loan but underneath there was no substance other than the man from the BBC digging a bigger and bigger hole.

Normally anything major going on inside Ibrox finds it’s way into friendly media hands to apply some top spin but 24 hours ahead of the dossier going public there is nothing to be shared with anxious readers.

Towards the end of last week the allegations seemed to be getting downgraded from corruption to a lack of fair play in the absence of anything concrete emerging.

Perhaps the excitement created by the ‘Dundee invoices’ has played it’s part with the social frenzy that it created followed by the feeling of deflation that the story was as genuine as Chinese interest in Alfredo Morelos.

Adding to the downplaying of expectations was the rumour that the new PR man had left the club after overstating expectations of the dossier obtained from the whistle-blower.

Another day of wishful thinking is expected on one side of the city, in the realistic part of the internet another chapter in The Banter Years is expected.
