I’m not having their votes to tell you the truth! Angry McCoist slams SPFL vote

Ally McCoist is refusing to accept the democratic vote of the 42 SPFL clubs.

On Tuesday the clubs voted 27-13 against holding an independent investigation into the SPFL vote that gave the board permission to decide the four divisions based on average points per game.

The new message sent out to Ibrox apologists has been to subtract the votes made by clubs who have directors on the board of the SPFL.

Predictably the majority (that is 7 out of 13 for the hard of thinking and counting) of votes for the investigation came from clubs finishing in bottom place or second in their division while others like Livingston thought that it was a vote in favour of league reconstruction.

A total of 32 votes were needed to approve the call for an investigation but with just 13 clubs voting in favour it takes incredible top spin to turn it into a moral victory.

Like Tom English at BBC Scotland McCoist is deep in denial, on Radio Clyde Alex Rae is expected to follow the same line with Stenhousemuir supremo Iain McMenemy expected to appear on Sportsound on Saturday afternoon.

Covering his angry rant against democracy on TalkSPORT the Daily Record reports the failed Ibrox boss saying:

How many members of the SPFL board would have voted? Six or seven? So my point would be that those on the board would have clearly voted with the SPFL so I’m not counting their votes to tell you the truth.

What I would suggest is, it’s by far and away, hardly a vote of confidence to have more than a third of clubs looking to have another inquiry into the SPFL.

I’m not sure it’s over and done with. I think in the interest of Scottish football, I honestly believe there should have been an EGM for the SPFL to clear themselves. It has been extremely poor management at best.

In November 2011 McCoist had Rangers 15 points clear of Celtic at the top of the SPL, after Joe Ledley scored the winner in the December derby clash Celtic moved into top spot- on their way to the first of NINE successive title.

During his brief career in management McCoist lost three cup ties to Dundee United with other cup exits from Falkirk, Queen of the South, Forfar, Inverness Caley Thistle, Alloa and Raith Rovers.
