Leigh Griffiths has caused some concern among Celtic fans by a message on his Instagram.
‘I’ll be gone this time next year’ isn’t the sort of personal or professional message that anyone wants to look into.
Professionally the year 2019 was virtually a write-off for the striker as he was given time off by Celtic.
Griffiths returned for pre-season training but after scoring three early goals he dropped out of the side at the end of August just when he was being tipped for a Scotland recall.
Tonight’s message may well be some sort of wind-up with Griffiths prolific on social media at times with accounts on various platforms.
Over the last few days he has spoken about the importance of the season ahead, stressing that any new signings will quickly be brought upto date with the importance of winning a tenth successive title.
In September 2018 Griffiths signed a contract committing himself to Celtic until 2022.
