Neil Lennon has spoken positively about getting Fraser Forster and Moi Elyounoussi back on loan for next season.

Seeing both players reporting for pre-season training at Lennoxtown came as some surprise with their loan deals due to expire at the end of this month.

Southampton paid out close to £30m to take both players to St Mary’s with Forster having two years left on his contract while Elyounoussi is tied to Southampton until 2023.

Forster made an outstanding contribution to Celtic’s successful season while his Norwegian team-mate made a big impression before his season was effectively ended by injury in November.

Discussing the prospects of a return for next season Lennon told the Daily Record:

I don’t think it’s unrealistic. They ( Forster and Elyounoussi) are two players who added a lot to the squad last year and made a really positive contribution.

So they are two players we would dearly love to have for next season but we just have to wait and see. They are not our players. We will see how negotiations go. It’s good to see them back and involved and it would give us continuity if we could get those two in.

Celtic are expected to get their Premiership fixtures next week, with the season starting on August 1 new deals will have to be agreed if either player is to be part of Lennon’s plans for the new term.
