Bayern Munich and Manchester City are ready to battle it out for Ibrox starlet Kai Kennedy.

The teenager has rejected the offer of a new long term contract and sees his future away from the Gerrard Express.

Kennedy has a year left on his current contract but after refusing his new deal was demoted from first team training back to the youth side.

The Daily Record reports:

Rangers starlet Kai Kennedy could be set to leave Ibrox – but the club are still hopeful of striking a deal.

Record Sport revealed back in December the midfielder was on the radar of Bayern Munich and Manchester City and this latest development has put them on alert.

The teenager has made just one top-team appearance for the Ibrox club, in the William Hill Scottish Cup clash with Stranraer in January.

He appeared as a second-half substitute in that game and was expected to force his way into Steven Gerrard’s plans for the new season.

In Gerrard’s two years in charge none of the starlets from The Murray Park Academy have made any progress.

Despite the coaching of Graeme Murty and strategic planning of Craig Mulholland the youngest player to appear in the SPFL last season was Ianis Hagi.

Kennedy now faces an uncertain time as he waits for his agent to sort out a transfer while facing a season kicking his heels waiting for his contract to finish.
