Celtic are reported to have revived their interest in David Turnbull.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the Motherwell midfielder was watched by Nicky Hammond during Friday’s closed doors friendly against Kilmarnock at Fir Park.

Kilmarnock will be Celtic’s second opponents in the SPFL with Turnbull picking up on the comeback that saw him play twice before Lockdown after undergoing surgery last summer.

The midfielder underwent further surgery during Lockdown but that was always planned with the extended time off giving him greater time to recuperate.

Celtic and Motherwell agreed a fee in the region of £3m last June but after a medical issue was highlighted the clubs were unable to agree a revised fee.

Covering a report by Stephen McGowan in the Daily Mail, BBC Scotland reports:

Motherwell attacker David Turnbull is back on Celtic’s radar, with the 21-year-old now fully recovered from the knee issue that caused the collapse of his £3m move to Parkhead last summer. (Daily Mail, print edition)

Midfield would appear to be an area that Celtic are well covered in, any deal for Turnbull could be sweetened by sending Ewan Henderson or Luca Connell on loan to Fir Park.

The report in the Daily Mail also claims that Celtic are likely to be signing a goalkeeper whose name hasn’t yet been linked to the club.
