Jack Hendry is in Belgium ahead of completing a loan move to KV Oostende.

The defender suffered a bad knee injury in the second match of a loan spell with Melbourne City but has battled back to fitness and is ready to resume his career in Belgium.

Hendry still has two years left to run on his Celtic contract but despite the departure of Jozo Simunovic there is no prospect of game time under Neil Lennon.

Discussing Oostende’s build up to the new season Belgian site hin.be reports:

The club welcomes a handful of new players. This is how 25-year-old Scottish central defender Jack Hendry arrives at the Schorre. Hendry is taken over from Celtic Glasgow, who loaned him to Melbourne City last season.

Oostende finished last season in second bottom position with 22 points from 29 matches.

Hendry was signed by Brendan Rodgers at the end of the January 2018 transfer window and was initially used as right-back cover for Mikael Lustig.

His arrival coincided with Kris Ajer forcing his way into the side, when Filip Benkovic joined on loan from Leicester City at the start of the 2018/19 season it was clear that Hendry’s chances would be very limited.
