Leigh Griffiths has been reassured that being left out of Celtic’s squad for France doesn’t mean that his hoops career is at an end.
The striker had a troubled 2019 but was backed by Neil Lennon, the manager that brought him from Wolves to Celtic in January 2014 and a string of scoring bursts alongside unwelcome off the field issues.
Griffiths found himself out on contention under Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers but has always found a way back into favour as he showed this year following the winter break in Dubai.
Once again the Scotland striker has drifted down the queue for a striking place but the door on his Celtic career hasn’t been closed.
The Sun reports:
LEIGH GRIFFITHS has been reassured his Celtic career is NOT over – as he vowed to prove his critics wrong.
SunSport can reveal Hoops boss Neil Lennon has had a heart-to-heart discussion with the out-of-shape striker insisting he can still have a Parkhead future.
The timeline for the latest incident seems a little cloudy. Celtic players returned for solo training sessions from June 11 with Griffiths pictured in Adidas training kit which was after July 1.
Last Monday Lennon took a squad of players down to Loughborough but despite being left behind no pictures emerged of Griffiths while he commuted to and from Lennoxtown.
