Leigh Griffiths has posted a defiant post on Instagram after being left out of the Celtic squad that travels to France on Monday.
The hoops face friendlies against Nice, Lyon and Paris Saint Germain before returning to Scotland to complete their preparations for the start of the SPFL Premiership season.
Griffiths was pictured at Lennoxtown after Celtic returned to training from June 11 but appears to have been left behind from the trip to Loughborough University.
Last night’s statement from Celtic made no mention of weight issues but that was included in the accompanying story.
With Griffiths currently out of the picture Patryk Klimala and Vakoun Bayo have the chance to push their case for greater involvement alongside Odsonne Edouard.
Griffiths missed the majority of 2019 but after Celtic’s winter break in Dubai returned to the side to play a lead role in securing the title, signing off with a hat-trick in the 5-0 win over St Mirren.
Taking to social media is unlikely to find favour with Neil Lennon who has went out of his way to help the striker since returning to Celtic in February 2019.
