St Gallen are preparing a swoop for Ibrox target Florian Kamberi.

The striker moved to Ibrox on loan in January where he matched Alfredo Morelos’ goal haul with a breath-taking equaliser in a 2-2 draw at St Johnstone.

Kamberi is now back at Hibs for pre-season training but unlikely to play again for the Edinburgh side following his comments on arriving at Ibrox.

With 12 months left on his contract Hibs are anxious to pick up a transfer fee with a return to Switzerland on the cards for the former Grasshoppers striker.

The Sun reports:

SWISS league leaders St Gallen could jump ahead of Rangers and offer Florian Kamberi a passport into the Champions League. SunSport understands they’re in talks to take the Hibernian striker back to his homeland this summer.

Gers, who took Kamberi on loan in January, have asked to be kept informed of the player’s plans. But St Gallen — top of the league with six games left and out to seal Champions League football — are now negotiating to buy him.

Since losing the 2019/20 title to Celtic Gerrard has added Calvin Bassey and Jon McLaughlin to his squad.

Andy Halliday. Jon Flanagan, Wes Foderingham, Matt Polster, Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Rossiter and Jason Holt have left the club with injury ruling Nikola Katic for the foreseeable future.
