Kris Boyd believes that his old club has to win more matches to stop Celtic winning the dreaded TENTH successive title.

The former Portland Timbers goal ace has been living the nightmare as he watches Celtic rack up title after title.

Moving into the media has come at the worst possible time as Boyd tries to remain detached at the pain unfolding in front of him.

Now and then his mask has slipped. Last December he described it as men against boys when Celtic lost the third Glasgow derby of the season, a month later at Rugby Park he went on a very unprofessional rant against Leigh Griffiths after the striker scored at Rugby Park.

With next to nothing in the way of signings at Ibrox this summer Boyd is pinning his hopes on Gerrard working his magic on a squad of players that have failed every time they have come close to winning their first major trophy.

Discussing his theory with The Sun, Boyd said:

Consistency has been their problem and there’s been drops in form. It might be down to loss of confidence after the winter break but they won’t have that this season as the winter break isn’t there.

Hopefully for everyone connected with Scottish football we can have a title challenge and Rangers pushing Celtic all the way.

There is quality in the Rangers dressing room and there is no doubt when they face Celtic they can win the games but sometimes Rangers need to find a way to grind out results like they did at the start of last season.

After the break it never really happened. You have to credit Celtic as they were unbelievable after the break and they blew everyone away.

Since last season ended Gerrard has lost Andy Halliday, Wes Foderingham, Flo Kamberi, Jon Flanagan and Sheyi Ojo from his squad, Nikola Katic will be out of action for the foreseeable future.

In return Jon McLaughlin and Calvin Bassey have joined the Gerrard Revolution.
