Sportscene will return to a Saturday night slot for the first time in 18 years when the football season starts next month.
It has been a generation since the state broadcaster showed Scottish football on a Saturday night with the new look show broadcast on the BBC Scotland channel rather than BBC1. With some careful scheduling fans should be able to switch from Sportscene to Match of the Day to ensure a footy feast on council telly!

Sportscene, BBC Scotland’s flagship football programme, will return on Saturday evenings this season for the first time since 2002. The Scottish Premiership kicks off on 1 August and we will show the best of the day’s action and reaction each week.
Over the last 18 years football highlights on BBC Scotland have been all over the place with the Sunday 7pm slot of recent years being made available by the launch of the BBC Scotland channel.
The Saturday night slot will help Celtic fans unable to attend matches with easy to access highlights now available later on matchday. On August 15 and 29 Celtic have home matches against Aberdeen and Motherwell.
You Tube has provided five minutes of highlights from matches in the last few seasons but for UK viewers the highlights have been embargoed until 6pm on Sunday.
