Steven Gerrard provided a clinical character assassination of Alfredo Morelos as he chucked the Colombian striker under the bus.
Morelos has started the first five matches of the season but failed to make the bench for today’s 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.
Since the turn of the year the former HJK Helsinki starlet has been suspended by UEFA, the SFA and his own club, scoring in just two matches in 2020.
Morelos has looked overweight and uninterested so far this season with Gerrard spelling out to The Sun exactly what he thinks of his own players attitude:
I think you guys will decide how big a decision it was but for me it was pretty simple. We need players who work hard every single day and who are ready and focused for the challenges coming up.
If I see people who are not focused or who have taken their eye off the ball and are not really, really hungry to get this football club results, I have to make easy decisions and Alfredo made it easy for me this week.
I’ve picked the players that are focused. I want players who are hungry and want to be here. I need to see that on a daily basis, players who want to give everything for the shirt.
Since he arrived at Ibrox Gerrard has almost been swamped by fantasy stories about bids coming in for Morelos, in his first 18 months in charge at Ibrox Morelos was sent off seven times.
Star spotter Ross Wilson now has the task of raising Dembele dollars for the striker with his stock as low as his goal tally against Celtic.
