Greg Taylor isn’t having sleepless nights about the arrival of a rival for his place in the Celtic side.

The defender joined Celtic a year ago, just as Boli Bolingoli struck his best form to leave him on the bench watching his new side in action.

Taylor had to wait until November to make some headway into the Celtic side but is taking nothing for granted despite the departures of Bolingoli and Jonny Hayes.

It is generally accepted that either a left-back or left wing-back is the position Neil Lennon is looking to fill before the window closes on October 5 with Taylor braced for fresh competition.

Covering the former Kilmarnock defenders media conference yesterday, The Sun reports:

It’s not a big problem for me. Boli’s gone out on loan, so there’s a vacancy there. It’s understandable that the manager’s looking to bring someone in.

It’s competition and that drives every player on. It’s something that we love having in the squad. I just have to do enough in training and games and aim to constantly get better.

If I’m selected then it’s about giving my all and trying to help deliver clean sheets and assists.

Alfie Doughty of Charlton has been the main left sided player that Celtic have been linked with but Lee Bowyer seems determined to hang on to his player.

With no reserve squad playing matches there are no other options for Lennon to go with although James Forrest played left wing-back away to Ross County.
