Celtic have been linked with an interest in Jere Uronen.

The Finnish international left-back has two years left on his contract with Genk and is also reported to be interesting clubs in Italy and Germany.

Celtic and Genk concluded a loan then permanent move for Eboue Kouassi earlier this year with a left sided defender the most likely addition to Neil Lennon’s squad.

Italian website Tuttomercatoweb reports:

Finnish internationalJere Uronen is one of the most important discoveries for the defence of Genk in recent years. Contract expiring in 2022, on the Turku class of ’94 there would be Italian clubs and strong pressure from two in the Bundesliga. In Scotland, however, the most concrete interest is that of Celtic.

Having started his career with TPS Turku then moved on to Hellsingborg before joining Genk the 26-year-old has solid club experience to augment his 40 international caps which include the recent matches against Wales and Ireland.

That sort of pedigree would be ideal for Celtic but if Genk are prepared to sell its likely that other clubs will be involved.

In December 2018 Arsenal were credited with an interest in Uronen but their need for a left-back was solved by the signing of Kieran Tierney.
