Marc McNulty has been arrested in relation to football betting according to a report in The Sun.

The striker joined Hibs on loan in January 2018 and 2020, during his first spell he scored seven goals in 13 appearances which was enough to earn him two full caps under Alex McLeish.

There has been a number of suggestions about serious gambling problems across football with a massive variety of bets available from the number of corners to yellow and red cards.

Last season on loan at Sunderland and Hibs McNulty never picked up a single booking. The previous season at Hibs he picked up five yellow cards in 16 matches, before that at Reading he never collected any cards from six starting appearances and coming off the bench nine times.

The Sun reports:

SCOTLAND striker Marc McNulty was arrested by cops probing allegations of match fixing in football.

The ex-Hibs ace, 28, and a man of 21 were quizzed as homes in Edinburgh and Forth Valley were searched.

It’s believed police are investigating bets on yellow cards being dished out to players and a number of other claims. Computer equipment is understood to have been taken away for analysis.

Confirming the double swoop, cops said: “Police Scotland is investigating reported incidents relating to gambling in sport.

“As part of the ongoing inquiry officers searched a number of properties in the Edinburgh and Forth Valley areas on Wednesday, September 23. Two men, aged 21 and 28, have been arrested and released pending further inquiries.”

Celtic were recently fined £8,000 for Boli Bolingoli taking a trip to Spain, SFA President Rod Petrie could be in an awkward position if Hibs get charged for any betting offences committed by one of their players.
