The Daily Record are hoping to prompt the SFA into handing out a retrospective suspension for an incident during Celtic’s 3-3 draw with Aberdeen.

It seems that the eagle-eyes at the Glasgow based publisher have spotted an incident involving Dons substitute Scott Wright that escaped the attention of referee Willie Collum.

Last weekend the Record failed to comment on the succession of late challenges aimed at Celtic players from Alfredo Morelos that were missed by Lanarkshire based referee John Beaton.

The Colombian hot-head was booked in the 85th minute, a favoured trait from Lanarkshire officials with Steven Gerrard immediately substituting him to avoid a third successive red card at Celtic Park.

Informing their army of readers about the Celtic skipper, the Record reports:

Scott Brown faces a sweat on potential retrospective punishment for the Celtic captain’s alleged elbow offence during Sunday’s Pittodrie thriller.

The Hoops midfielder, on as a 70th minute substitute, was caught on camera appearing to catch Scott Wright off the ball as he tried to block the Aberdeen man at a throw-in in the latter stages of the 3-3 draw.

Wright was seen holding his mouth after the incident but ref Willie Collum took no action and, as it would be a fast track case, SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte has until 3pm on Tuesday to decide if he will be cited.

Celtic were furious the last time a player was punished retrospectively with Ryan Christie handed a two-match ban for grabbing Alfredo Morelos in an Old Firm clash last December.

In 2019 Brown successfully overturned an improper conduct charge from the SFA that offered him a two match suspension for celebrating winning a Derby fixture at Celtic Park.

In his only newspaper interview this year Peter Lawwell told Record readers in June about his hopes to have fans inside Celtic Park for a test event ahead of the new SPFL season starting.
