Hatem Abd Elhamed has sent a message of thanks to the well-wishers after his illness returned a positive test.
While most media outlets instantly linked his self-isolation with missing the Glasgow derby supporters sent messages concerned about the players’ health.
Late on Sunday night after playing against the Czech Republic it emerged that Abd Elhamed was feeling unwell, with numerous Israeli players testing positive it seemed only a matter of time before the inevitable news was confirmed.
At tea time yesterday Celtic confirmed the positive test alongside news that their player will have to self-isolate in Israel for 13 days.
With his family in Glasgow that won’t be so easy but Zoom Facetime and WhatsApp will allow him to keep in touch and also to liase with Celtic’s medical team.
On the football side it Neil Lennon is without two defensive options, leaving him hoping that Kris Ajer and Shane Duffy remain fit and healthy to join Chris Jullien in his plans for Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.
