Steven Gerrard ducked out of media duties yesterday as all signs at Ibrox pointed towards no Transfer Deadline Day signings.

After beating Dundee United on September 12 the Ibrox boss pleaded for more signings but so far that call has fallen on deaf ears.

Qualifying for the group stage of the Europa League was expected to result in more new faces arriving but rather than discuss his side’s 2-0 home win over Ross County Gerrard went into hiding with his trusty assistant send out to dumb down expectations.

McAllister told The Sun:

If there was anything going to happen it would have to be a player who was close to coming right into the first team. At a place like this we are continually looking to improve and try to get better.

If something positive happens that will be good. We just have to wait and see what happens. Ross Wilson is in complete charge of that.

Over the piece since we’ve been here, we have always been able to show a bit of imagination to create a deal and make something happen. But it’s difficult to comment on who’s going to be in and who’s going to be out, we just have to wait and see.

The main obstacle to new signings appears to be Ross Wilson’s inability to sell anyone with less than £200,000 raised by offloading Greg Docherty to Hull City.

Around £10m has been spent bringing in Cedric Itten, Kemar Roofe and Ianis Hagi with the first two already regulars in the treatment room.
