With his 10 days of self isolation in France now completed there is no definite word on Odsonne Edouard’s travel plans.
Ever since the striker tested positive there has been varying reports on the period of self isolation, when he can travel and testing protocols as the clock ticks down to Saturday’s 12.30 Glasgow Derby kick-off.
While Ryan Christie has had delivery of a treadmill to his home there hasn’t been any real update on Edouard and where he was self-isolating.
Celtic are still challenging the authorities to have Christie available but in a report last night the Daily Record was unable to find out the plans for Edouard. While they have access to a Celtic insider/source they have got Nir Bitton’s location wrong unless Glasgow is now considered his ‘homeland’.
The Daily Record reports:
Definitely out are Nir Bitton and Hatem Elhamed, with the Israeli duo remaining in their homeland after coming down with the disease on international duty – while star striker Odsonne Edouard could also miss the match after a recording a positive swab after reporting for duty with the French under 21s.
And while Edouard’s availability remains unclear, Celtic have not given up hope of Christie being given a green light to play after a series of negative tests over the last week.
A source said: “We are watching the situation with Kieran and Arsenal very closely but we will have to wait and see how those discussions go. Obviously, if Arsenal are given permission for him to play on Saturday then it would be difficult to understand why the same would not apply to Ryan.”
Curiously, there was still no confirmation tonight of when Edouard will arrive back in Glasgow after completing a 10 day isolation period in Paris.
While Patryk Klimala played on Tuesday for the Polish u-21 side Leigh Griffiths and Albian Ajeti have been at Lennoxtown working on their fitness.
Neil Lennon will host a media conference today but it’s unlikely that there will be any clarity on the striking positions until the team is announced at 11.15am on Saturday.
