Neil Lennon has confirmed that Kris Ajer has sufferance a recurrence of his groin injury.

The defender returned to the Celtic side that won 4-1 at Motherwell today but was replaced by Shane Duffy in the 78th minute.

Ajer suffered a groin strain away to Lille that forced him to miss the matches against Aberdeen and Lille but returned to partner Nir Bitton in central defence today with Duffy relegated to the bench.

BBC Scotland’s rolling blog from today reports:

Celtic boss Neil Lennon confirms that Kristoffer Ajer suffered a recurrence of a groin injury and says the defender will probably miss out for Norway during the international break.

Celtic have a fortnight until they are back in action, away to Hibs with Neil Lennon left to sweat over the availability of his international players.

Ajer looked to be playing without any problem until he pulled up with just over 10 minutes left to play, ironically in a similar part of the pitch as he went down away to Lille.

Bitton, Duffy and Hatem Abd Elhamed will all be away on international duty with Lennon hopeful that Chris Jullien will be available again.

The Frenchman hasn’t played since the September 12 win away to Ross County and has recently been in Germany getting treatment for a back problem.
