Neil Lennon is hoping to see Kris Ajer back in action before the international break.

The defender suffered a groin injury early in the second half of the Europa League tie away to Lille and missed today’s Scottish Cup semi-final win over Aberdeen at Hampden

Celtic face Sparta Prague and Motherwell before the international calendar resumes with Ajer in contention to return to action.

After interviewing Neil Lennon pre-match, on page 3 of the BBC Scotland match blog they report:

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says Odsonne Edouard’s return is “psychologically a big lift” for Celtic.

He also tells BBC Sportsound that Kristoffer Ajer’s injury is not as bad as first feared and the defender should return next week, although he misses out today.

Nir Bitton partnered Shane Duffy against Aberdeen today with Hatem Abd Elhamed making a late substitute appearance in Celtic’s 2-0 win.

Ajer has been Celtic’s most consistent and reliable central defender this season with a welcome clean sheet recorded at Hampden today.

After a four game run without a win Celtic are now unbeaten in three and looking forward to a Scottish Cup Final appearance against Hearts on December 20.

No club has ever won the trophy four times running but Neil Lennon’s side are now just one match away from that achievement with a fourth successive treble and 12th domestic trophy win in a row.
