Bobby Madden will referee Celtic’s SPFL clash away to Hibs next Saturday.

It is the first time this season that the Lanarkshire based official has officiated at a Celtic match but hoops fans know all about his charge sheet going back to the February 2017 Glasgow derby when he refused to award a penalty when Clint Hill chopped down Leigh Griffiths in the closing minutes.

A few months later Madden missed Jayden Stockley’s attack on Kieran Tierney at the Scottish Cup Final that left the Celtic defender needing hospital treatment.

Neil Lennon will have to wait until Thursday before he can start considering his side for the match with players currently scattered across Europe.

Three players were involved last night for Scotland away to Serbia with the squad moving on to Slovakia for a Nations League tie on Sunday followed by the final group match in Israel on Wednesday night.

Madden will be assisted at Easter Road by his close friend David Roome and John McCrossan, Alan Muir will be the fourth official,
