Don Robertson apparently had a quietly impressive match at Hampden today as Celtic beat Aberdeen 2-0 to reach the final of the Scottish Cup.

Albian Ajeti may disagree with Chris Sutton amazed that the referee ignored a right-hander than left the Celtic substitute flat out on the deck.

To this observer it seemed that Robertson was willing some additional excitement into the game, especially in the second half as Celtic eased back but with Aberdeen unable to put a shot on target.

A succession of free kicks were awarded to Derek McInnes’ side from 50-50 challenges. Scott Brown may be rash now and the but there is a clear lack of physicality in the Celtic side.

Ajeti was sent on for the last 20 minutes and had to drop deeper and deeper to become involved.

Into stoppage time he was looking to run the clock down but found himself decked by a right hander which appeared to come from Lewis Ferguson. Ajeti got himself in front of Tommy Hoban but couldn’t account for another opponent deciding to take matters into their own hands.

Referee Robertson would have seen it as the Dons player ‘wrestled’ the ball back but no free kick was given let alone card issued.
