Forty-eight hours after the defeat from Ross County- the fourth successive home loss- Peter Lawwell has decided to communicate directly with the Celtic support.
As a rallying call it went down with the appeal of a cold pie and lukewarm Bovril in the middle of winter.
Over the last couple of days Jim White and Keith Jackson had quoted from Celtic sources leaving fans to guess about the accuracy of the message that they have been asked to take on board.
Lawwell used 234 words in tonight’s statement which contained no detail or plan, tellingly there was no mention of Neil Lennon as he implored fans to move forward together.
That will include the 50,000 that splashed out for Season Tickets with no sign of getting into a match or gratitude from the club, not even a discount voucher for the club shop to extract more money.
No mention was made of being knocked out of the Champions League, Europa League or Betfred Cup but it seems that a win over Hearts later this month will be justification for the multiple failings that have dogged this season with the team heading to the San Siro on Thursday on a run of two wins in 10 matches.
From the statement it seems that Lawwell has ran out of ideas- supporter patience and backing looks to be beyond the point of no return for the CEO who has been in place for 17 years.
While the Club has faced a difficult period on the pitch, #CelticFC Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has reiterated the Club’s determination to succeed this season and move forward together.

Absolutely outrageous. No sign whatsoever that they are in the least bit engaged with the reality of this situation. What it reveals is that they have no Plan B. We are run by vain, selfish, egotistical men who swagger in the sunshine but flounder in the storm. Shameful stuff.

Impotent puff peice …The inaction from the board will only facilitate more anger towards Neil & the players . End this madness now ffs !

Whilst Twitter has its fair share of eejits, it normally transcends all views. However, at the moment I cannot find a single tweet across the Celtic tweeters that is praising Peter Lawwell and hoping we keep Neil Lennon as manager #outoftouchwithsupporters

Difficult period worsening due to the board’s continued inepititude in regards to listening to the clubs supporters over the position of the manager?

You’ve spent the last 48 hours briefing against the fans via the media calling them spoilt, entitled and saying you won’t change the manager in spite of overwhelming evidence because we had the temerity to protest. Too late for the phoney unity message now.

And throw in CelticTV cancellations. My subscription is up in January. They been trippin’ if they think I’m renewing to watch Neil Lennon continue killing our club.

68 thousand pounds a week for that statement ???

The way you’re treating the support is a joke, it’s clear our voices mean nothing.
How many zoom calls, points dropped & competitions lost will it take for change?!
This is one of the biggest seasons in our history & your egos are the root of our troubles.
Get over yourselves.
