The Celtic Trust have called on the club to take down the barricades that were erected at the top of The Celtic Way on Friday.

No reason or explanation has been given for the barriers which prevents fans from visiting statues for Jock Stein, Brother Walfrid or Jimmy Johnstone with many named paving stones also in the area in front of the main entrance.

It is believed that the barriers were put up as a reaction to protests last week with a Celtic statement on Sunday night claiming that players were targeted with missiles.

Since then there has been one statement from Chief Executive Peter Lawwell on the club website alongside reports from Jim White and Keith Jackson quoting sources with refences to baying mobs included in their reports.

Around 300 fans joined a Zoom conference call staged by the Trust during which a number of issues were raised with an emphasis on events over the last month.

In a summary of the issues raised at today’s meeting the Celtic Trust requested:

Immediately remove the barriers around Celtic Park and communicate to supporter’s careful guidance on holding a peaceful and compliant protest should they so wish
In the week commencing 7/12/2020, meet with representatives of the Celtic Trust who have been tasked with conveying the detailed action points of the meeting and fully considering and responding to same.

Celtic will host an online AGM on December 14 with the club selecting questions to answer as part of the meeting.
