Peter Lawwell joined Neil Lennon as targets for Celtic fans after they watched their side lose 4-2 to AC Milan in the Europa League.
On Tuesday the Celtic Chief Executive issued a rallying call for fans to unify behind the team but that plea fell on deaf ears as the hoops lost four goals for the third Europa League match running.
For 15 minutes it looked like a tide may be turning as Tom Rogic and Odsonne Edouard put the visitors in front but within 10 minutes Milan were back on level terms with Celtic’s defensive failings exposed once again.
Lawwell has kept a low profile this year but during the recent run of woe it seems that Lennon has been explaining on a match by match basis the support and backing that he has had from the club hierarchy.
After coming in as a Caretaker in February 2019 Lawwell announced that the job had been given to Lennon on a permanent basis following the Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts with the CEO revealing that no other candidates were considered.
The whole structure has to change. New manager with his own staff and not controlled or undermined by Lawwell/Desmond

We will have plenty next year don’t worry about that Lawwell and Desmond are making sure of that

I am not denying that, but facts are facts. It hurts me to admit that not even halfway through such a momentous season. Folk like Lawwell can point the finger at yobs for his poor mangement and naivety. He appointed the manager. https://t.co/laWwFM48og

The common thread after every game is Lennon. Fitness, tactics, substitutions, confidence, inability to motivate. Lost revenue, lost club reputation, player valuations in freefall from a massive position of strength. Lawwell and board culpable and conflicted but must act.

Positive display meaning we only got drubbed 4-2 as opposed to our customary 4-1? Lennon out, Lawwell out

Anyone out with Desmond & Lawwell got a case why Lennon should stay? Not a ‘legend’ or ‘Celtic man’ argument a real football backed, factual reason he is our manager…… GO…..
