Roma have dismissed a report claiming that they were quoted a £13.5m transfer fee for Jeremie Frimpong.

The initial report came from Italy but was quickly picked up by Scottish publishers. Signed in September 2019 as a project Frimpong found himself in the first team within a month of signing and has gone on to become a key player in less than 50 matches.

This season he has shared right-back duties with Hatem Abd Elhamed but over the last two matches with Kris Ajer at right-back he has played on the right of midfield.

Celtic paid Manchester City £300,000 for the then teenager with the selling club having a 30% sell-on clause for any fee.

With a contract running until 2023 Celtic are in no rush to sell Frimpong but his initial salary is likely to be one of the lowest in the current first team squad.

The expected exit of Elhamed next month is likely to make Frimpong even more valuable with the club in no rush to sell the 20-year-old.
