Douglas Ross is back on duty at Ibrox today, waving his flag for the fourth time this season in the ninth home match of the season for the Ibrox side. Ross hasn’t been on duty at any away matches.

The leader of the Scottish Tories is no stranger to the long road from his Elgin constituency to Glasgow with today’s match his ninth weekend appointment in the city. The Westminster MP has covered three Celtic home SPFL matches, one Betfred Cup tie and the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen.

It is a remarkable series of appointments from the SFA when there are dozens of assistant referees closer to Ibrox which would free Ross up to look after the interests of his constituents.

Former Daily Record reporter Russell Findlay, now Head of Communications for the Scottish Tories is based in Glasgow as is the HQ of BBC Scotland.

Don Robertson will referee today’s match against Motherwell, in his previous appointment for the Ibrox club they drew 2-2 away to Hibs in September.

John Beaton will referee tomorrow’s Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Hearts.
