The son of Tommy Burns, Jonathan, has reacted to the sad sight of barricades being erected at the top of The Celtic Way.

In mid afternoon pictures appeared on Twitter showing the development which appears to be a reaction to the protests last week following the Betfred Cup defeat from Ross County.

Around 200 fans gathered outside the stadium with a tiny minority clashing with police who erected temporary barriers.

That sight would have been very troubling for Carlton boy Tommy who was never uncomfortable in the company of Celtic fans. When he was sacked as manager in 1997 he insisted on walking out the front door where thousands of fans had gathered rather than the club suggestion of a side exit.

Burns served Celtic as a player for 15 years then returned as manager and again as the Head of Youth Development. Jonathan has been in Florida for a number of years where he coaches with a club affiliated to Celtic.
