One leading bookmaker has suspended bets on Eddie Howe becoming the next Celtic manager.

The former Bournemouth boss has been mentioned in dispatches over the last few months with some fans believing that he has a similar profile and approach to Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic’s season has been in meltdown since November but with Peter Lawwell and Ian Bankier going public with their backing for Neil Lennon it seems that no moves have been made.

In May 2019 when appointing Lennon the club CEO claimed that no other candidate was considered despite Rodgers leaving three months earlier.

The Sun reports:

Betfair have SUSPENDED their next Celtic boss market after Howe was backed in at 1/10. The young English manager has been heavily linked with potentially taking over from Lennon for the past two months. The 43-year-old has been out of work since leaving the Cherries in the summer.

Last week a WhatsApp message made a number of claims centring round Lennon stepping down after the Livingston match with Howe being installed.

On the surface there seems to be no signs of movement with Celtic still to inform fans of the outcome of a managerial review promised in the new year.
