Ewan Otoo has signed a new contract with Celtic, keeping him at the club until 2024 at the earliest.

The midfielder impressed in the recent Glasgow Cup tie win over Partick Thistle with a powerful shielding performance in front of the central defenders as Celtic won 4-0 at Firhill. Next week he’ll be looking to play in the final which is played for by the u-21 side guided by Tommy McIntyre.

Under-age football has been difficult to maintain over the last 10 months but with his second pro contract Otoo has the opportunity to push on with his dream of getting through into the Celtic first team.

After signing his first pro deal in June 2019 Otoo told Ghana Football:

I started playing for Easttwood Boys Club at a tender age before Celtic signed me to play at the U-16 level for a period of two years. Before then, I was called to play at the youth level in Scotland where I have played a number of matches and scored a couple of goals.

But in future I want to play for the national team at the senior level because Ghana is my root and I need to help put our international football on a higher pedestal

Celtic will be pleased to get the deal completed with players like Liam Morrison recently tempted away to join Bayern Munich with teenage players closely scouted and monitored.

The next step is the hardest one for Otoo to make but if his display against Thistle is anything to go by Celtic have a player high in potential to nurture through.
