After being hounded for most of their work since the turn of the year Celtic’s Social Media team got things right following the sad death of Dr Jo Venglos.

The Slovakian only had one year in charge of Celtic but as well as gifting the club Lubo Moravcik there was one other memory that won’t fade.

After stopping 10-in-a-row Celtic’s defence of the title barely got started. Half of the squad spent their summer at the World Cup Finals in France with Venglos appointed ahead of the Champions League qualifier against St Pat’s, missing out on taking the squad for pre-season.

With money no object at Ibrox Dick Advocaat’s squad were already well ahead in the league when they visited Celtic Park in November.

Such was the confidence of the visitors that 30,000 fans bought tickets for an Ibrox beamback, the match was a 3pm Saturday kick-off, the last one between the two clubs not to be televised live.

Dr Jo had brought in an ageing attacking midfielder who had been greeted with derision. By the final whistle the 33-year-old Lubo Moravcik was a hero, in the blue corner £4m signing Colin Hendry, the same age as Lubo was finished.

Celtic’s Commercial Department quickly went to work, a VHS titled Demolition Derby went a long way towards paying the £300,000 fee that Duisburg picked up for their ageing midfielder.
