Alex Neil expects Ben Davies to still be a Preston player on Tuesday morning.

There have been conflicting reports about the defender with Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports claiming that a pre-contract deal has been signed with Celtic but that has been denied by Neil Lennon.

Despite the speculation over his future Davies has remained a regular in the Preston defence with his manager expecting that situation to stay in place.

Asked when Davies will be remaining at Deepdale, Neil told Lancs Live:

Yes, I fully expect Ben Davies to be here until the end of the season. I think you can see that is he dedicated and I thought that for most of today he was excellent, he’s just a good player.

Preston lost 1-0 yesterday away to Sheffield Wednesday with ex Celt Darnell Fisher moving to Middlesbrough and Ben Pearson joining Bournemouth during the week.

Davies has come through the ranks at the club but with his deal expiring in June he can sign a pre-contract with a non-English club or hold out to become a free agent in the summer.

Preston are currently in 11th place in the Championship, six points off a Play Off place.
