Scott Brown has told the trendy Armchair Analysts that they’d never survive on the training ground or dressing room.

Over the last couple of years statistics have flooded into the public domain allowing laymen to compare and contrast with Social Media allowing a platform to share views.

Football clubs have employed people to devour and interpret all sorts of information which has been making greater in-roads onto the training ground and tactics board.

There is a balancing act between making use of external information and getting players to react to situations during matches with Brown emphasising that the game is still played on the pitch against direct opponents.

Speaking to the Daily Record about the upfront demands of management and how Neil Lennon goes about his job the hoops skipper said:

There’s the way we set up for training, when we get days off and how much time we have for recovery and then how we train in the two or three days before a match and how it’s built up.

I like that part of things, I enjoy it. Management is never going to be easy – there are always going to be people out there who think they know better because they’ve been playing Football Manager throughout their career and they know the best line-up.

Ask them to give a team talk to the lads, though, and they would struggle. A lot of people have their say now – it’s part and parcel of living in 2021.

Brown has started just one match in the last month, Celtic’s Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts on December 20.

Lennon has an almost full squad to pick from at Livingston tonight with the bulk of the 13 players that were self isolating available for selection.
