Neil Lennon has revealed that he has rarely had to have ‘a few choice words’ with his players during his second stint at Celtic.

The hoops boss was reflecting on the recent 2-1 defeat from St Mirren, after that match he claimed it was the biggest disappointment since he returned to the club two years ago.

After a horrendous season that seemed a strange comment for Lennon to make. The St Mirren defeat was a sore one but already this season he had watched Celtic lose at home five times.

From the home dug out he has watched Cluj and Ferencvaros end hopes of progress in the Champions League, in October Celtic went through the Glasgow derby without putting a shot on target which was followed up by a 4-1 hammering from Sparta Prague who had left behind half a dozen players to self isolate.

In November Ross County ended Celtic’s 36 match domestic cup winning run, within a month Stuart Kettlewell had been sacked as their manager.

Asked about his reaction to the 2-1 defeat from St Mirren

I had a few choice words, that was all. Told them that I was bitterly disappointed, I haven’t had to do that many times in my second spell and I’ve got a good reaction from them so far.
