Tom English has taken a vow of silence over the West End party boys that forced the club from Ibrox into a rushed statement on Sunday night.

The Chief Sports Writer at the Glasgow branch of the British Broadcasting Corporation normally wades into anything topical on Social Media to make himself relevant in the absence of breaking stories outside of Gorgie Road.

Throughout last summer English attacked the SFA and SPFL at every opportunity as the 2019/20 season was called based on points per game. Gregory Campbell, Scott Gardiner and Iain McMenemy joined him on Sportsound as they howled at the moon over Celtic winning the title for a ninth successive season.

Since the Ibrox statement on Sunday night the SFA and SPFL appear to have gone into hiding despite a warning from the First Minister on Monday as she was asked about the follow up to a yellow card.

At this time of the year English likes to drop out of soccer coverage, switching codes to share his knowledge of scrum-half’s, flankers and hookers with the egg-chasers of Morningside, Kelvinside and Bearsden.

He did find time off on Monday to share an in-joke with a golf reporter but the prospect of the football season being halted due to in-action from the SFA and SPFL seems to be a subject that he’d rather avoid.
