My ambitions- John Kennedy’s cryptic comment

There was one comment from John Kennedy that stood out in his first Celtic TV  interview as Interim Manager.

‘I have to park my own ambitions’ was a little out of sync with the rest of the interview as he discussed taking over from Neil Lennon and trying to salvage something from a disastrous season.

Nothing is really known of Kennedy’s own ambitions. He has spent more than half his life at Celtic, making a first team debut at the age of 16. Now, 21 years later in normal circumstances he should be taking his first steps into coaching but instead he has seven years front line experience as part of the most successful run in domestic football.

Managing Celtic would be assumed as an obvious ambition of Kennedy but having seen the job close up, how it has transformed and churned up three very different men over the last seven years he’ll likely see his first hands-on role elsewhere.

It’s not about me it’s about doing the right thing for both the team and the club, that is all that I care about.

You know, I have to park my own ambition aside and just do the right thing day to day and go help the club going forward.

Kennedy is likely to face the broadcast media at lunchtime today, whether he expands on his own ambitions remains to be seen.
