Should it be the SFA being charged rather than Albian Ajeti?

Celtic’s season has had more than enough elements of farce but yesterday the SFA opted to wade in by offering Albian Ajeti a two match suspension for simulation against Kilmarnock.

Last night Celtic sources informed their publishing partners that an appeal would be made against the charge with Neil Lennon likely to discuss it during his lunchtime media conference.

Where the charge came from is anyone’s guess but with a culture of silence no-one is likely to be any wiser about the processes of the SFA. As is often said this is the fault of the member clubs who have formulated whatever policies the SFA follow.

Every weekend there are incidents like the Ajeti penalty decision. Fans, pundits, players and managers acknowledge them with ‘seen them given’ but it appears that once again the presence of Sky Sports cameras and a need to be seen to do something has pushed the SFA into action.

On Wednesday there was a frenzy to charge Scott Brown after Aaron Tshibola had bumped into the Celtic midfielder. That claim was just too ridiculous but it seems that Ajeti has been snared into Plan B.

When the outcome is known Celtic could do the game a massive favour by publishing every aspect of the charge. Transparency and accountability are long overdue in Scottish football.

The images and clips below were quickly put together on Twitter, the grounds for the SFA charge really need to be explained.
