Diego Laxalt has taken to Instagram to explain the mix up over comments credited to him about Eddie Howe.
In the middle of a 14 days break between matches speculation over who might be the next Celtic boss has intensified even though there has been next to no comment from the club.
Howe has been linked to the job since before Neil Lennon resigned but again there has been nothing to suggest that he is in the frame to take on the managerial vacancy.
The notion that a player on loan from AC Milan has a march on who will be the next Celtic boss is rather far fetched but one fan decided to ask the question.
With Laxalt playing Fortnite online a Scottish voice asked about meeting the former Bournemouth boss with the reply quickly picked up on and repeated across Social Media.
Chinese Whispers were translated into Spanish Whispers from the Uruguayan on loan at Celtic from an Italian club.
Clearing up the issue, The Sun reports:
The 28-year-old could be heard reading: “Diego you met Eddie Howe yet?”
After a brief pause, the AC Milan player added: “No no no, tomorrow.”
However, Laxalt has now moved to clear up the matter – insisting he thought the question was about team-mate Odsonne Edouard – dubbed French Eddy by the Celts faithful.
And taking to Instagram, the defender asked for the clip to be removed after it misinterpreted what he said.
Speaking to Only Celtic, in reference to the question in the video, he wrote: “I only read the first part! I thought you were talking about Eddy (Odsonne Edouard) because many in the chat write Eddy. If you can delete the video I would be grateful.”
John Kennedy remains as Interim Manager, preparing Laxalt and others for Saturday’s match at home to Falkirk in the Scottish Cup.
