News last night that Paul Lambert has left Ipswich Town by mutual consent brought an almost unanimous reaction from Celtic fans on Twitter.
With Neil Lennon resigning in midweek the availability of a former team-mate on the market leads to an obvious conclusion even though there is absolutely no sign that the former Celtic skipper has any intention of putting himself forward for the current vacancy.
Strangely despite the enormous influence of playing under Martin O’Neill success in management has been elusive for the players that served under the Irishman as he transformed Celtic at the turn of the century.
Lambert had a season at Livingston before heading south where he had little profile but after solid work at Wycombe and Colchester he was given the Norwich job, guiding them to back-to-back promotions and a place in the EPL.
From Carrow Road he has suffered a series of bad judgements and bad luck at Aston Villa, Blackburn, Wolves, Stoke and Ipswich which led to last night’s announcement.
His next move will almost certainly be within England but the breaking news was met with one fairly constant message from Celtic fans as they wait for signs from inside their own club.

100% not the answer Celtic are looking for!!!
If he’s who we’re considering then I really don’t see the point in getting rid of NL??????
He’s been continually failing for years now?

A few more interviews on Sky Sports and he’ll find another job in the lower half of League 1. Plenty of legs left in the basement divisions.
