In just 14 first team appearances Stephen Welsh knows one of Celtic’s major failings- the inability to defend set-pieces.

It has been a running sore throughout this season with a variety of defences and goalkeepers unable to come up with a solution.

Yesterday Leon Balogun and Alfredo Morelos were almost unopposed as they attacked a corner deep into the penalty area.

In Neil Lennon’s final match in charge away to Ross County similar issues created the only goal of the game for Jordan White.

Welsh has become a regular over the last seven weeks, making a positive impact in the most testing of circumstances with another impressive, mature performance in yesterday’s draw.

Afterwards he told BBC Scotland:

I thought we dominated the first-half but that’s what has happened for us this season, we’ve not taken our chances. All in all we are disappointed not to come away with a win. Our concentration in the key moments has let us down and we need to work on that for the rest of this season and next season.

Celtic now have a fortnight off before returning to face Falkirk or Arbroath in the Scottish Cup.
