John Kennedy is the odd on favourite to become the next Celtic manager with other candidates such as Steve Clarke, Eddie Howe and Paul Lambert drifting towards double figures.

Enzo Maresco, currently in charge of Manchester City’s Development side is second favourite which is likely to be based on City’s Fergal Harkin being strongly linked with the job of Director of Football.

Overnight quotes emerged from a Q and A involving Clarke where he said that he was planning a long holiday after this summer’s European Championships.

With Celtic playing UEFA qualifiers in mid July it looks highly unlikely that the Scotland manager will be considered unless, in a highly unlikely scenario he was to resign from the national team.

Rafa Benitez appears to have dropped completely out of contention but it doesn’t take much in the way of rumours for someone to emerge as a front runner in this fast-changing market.
