Celtic have been linked with a move for Den Haag full-back Milan van Ewijk. By his agent!

Who is involved at Celtic’s end will probably be of most interest with widescale changes expected when the summer transfer window opens.

Over the last two summers Nick Hammond is believed to have been heavily involved in transfer business with very few successes

Only David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro have made any meaningful contribution from the last three windows with expensive loan signings also making little impact.

Covering Celtic’s alleged interest, The Sun reports:

However, they face competition to land van Ewijk – who has 18 months left of his contract – from German clubs Schalke, Hamburg, Darmstadt and Belgian side Gent.

Van Ewijk’s agent, Style de Jong, said: “At the moment Milan is focusing on the relegation battle with Den Haag. He is not distracted by all the interest in him. We have drawn up a step-by-step plan together to make the best choices in his early, but promising career and we will stick to that.”

The full back has made 24 appearances for Den Haag this season, but looks certain to move at the end of the campaign.

After losing Hatem Abd Elhamed and Jeremie Frimpong in January bringing in at least one right-back looks like a transfer priority for next season.

How likely van Ewijk is to be that player is open to speculation with uncertainty over how non-British nationals will be treated by the football authorities once Brexit is fully implemented.
