Roy Keane has become the odds-on favourite to become the next Celtic manager- easing Chris Wilder and John Kennedy out in the betting.

The former Manchester United midfielder has been the subject of heavy speculation over the last few days with Martin O’Neill leading the ‘campaigning’. Most bookies now have him priced at between 8/15 and 4/6 to become the next Celtic manager.

Keane hasn’t sat down to pick a team in more than a decade but his Celtic and Irish links plus his high profile role on Sky Sports has pushed him into contention.

While he makes for compulsive viewing on Sky Sports most polls of Celtic fans have came out around 70% against Keane taking over from Neil Lennon.

It is more than a month since Lennon resigned from the job with no real signs from the club of what direction they are likely to take for a new manager.

With a new CEO coming in on July 1 and expectations that a Director of Football will also be appointed fans have been left in the dark waiting to see the jigsaw pieces fall into place.
