After a week of intense speculation, it seems that Roy Keane isn’t quite the certainty that some folk thought he was to become Celtic manager.

The former Manchester United midfielder is known to be a trusted contact of Dermot Desmond but after a decade out of management Celtic fans have been raising red flags about his possible appointment.

Over the last week Martin O’Neill has been singing the praise of his former assistant but that hasn’t made much of an impact on sceptical Celtic fans.

After being virtually dormant for a decade Gonzagga spring to life at the end of January with a string of tweets defending the failures of the Celtic board. A little digging suggested that Gonzagga may be quite close to someone in the Desmond family.

More than a month after Neil Lennon resigned all that supporters have discovered is that Dermot Desmond still believes that he knows what is best for the club.

With a new CEO, manager and captain required for next season the club is facing up to the biggest turnover since O’Neill replaced John Barnes in June 2000.
