A report in The Sun claims that Jesse Marsch is ‘admired by Hoops chief’.

It would be terrifying to think that an American coach performing well in the Champions League with an Austrian club wasn’t impressing the Celtic hierarchy but recent appointments have suggested that the club is less than thorough in their recruitment processes.

According to Peter Lawwell no other candidate was considered over a three month period before Neil Lennon was offered the manager’s job following the 2019 Scottish Cup Final.

Dermot Desmond’s Irish contacts brought Brendan Rodgers to the club while Ronny Deila came to light following the transfer of Stefan Johansen then interviewed so well for the assistant manager’s job that he was given the main job.

Marsch seems to tick every box imaginable to become Celtic manager and has the added bonus of spending time with the club as he set off on his UEFA Pro Licence.

There has been no comment out of Celtic so far but late on Wednesday The Sun reported:

SunSport understands Hoops chiefs are admirers of Marsch. Ex-Celtic ace John Collins touted him days after Lennon left.

Marsch’s interview with Radio Scotland seems very left field, either a highly unlikely coincidence or part of a plan to bring him in as Celtic manager.

Where the truth lies only time will tell but as well as managerial ability the 47-year-old American seems to have a deep understanding of every aspect involved in the background that contributes towards putting a winning team on the pitch.
