Celtic fans weren’t in any mood to accept a lesson in humility and class from Brendan Rodgers.
The ability of the Irishman as a football manager is beyond doubt but humility and class are two subjects that he would be best to avoid.
Just over two years ago Rodgers showed his class as he prepared his Celtic squad for a game away to Hearts at Tynecastle. Scott Bain was sent in for a media conference unaware that his manager and most of the coaching staff were packing their bags and heading down to Leicester City.
The following day at training was sort of dramatic for the players as they were left with John Kennedy and Stevie Woods to take training with Damien Duff called up from the reserve squad.
During his time at Celtic Rodgers was never slow to invent a story or two to project his saintly image. One Danny McGrain story became a regular in his repertoire, when asked about it the legendary full-back revealed that it was the figment of the Irishman’s imagination. There was also a hard to believe story about an Ibrox fan getting out of his car in the Clyde Tunnel to congratulate him for salvaging Scottish football.
Under the surface of success Rodgers is deeply unsecure, always seeking out approval and popularity. His thoughts on the current situation at Celtic are of no interest to hoops fans, this latest interview has just highlighted how shallow he is.

Obviously nobody’s ever told him you shouldn’t speak about things you know nothing about ?

You mean like the ‘humility & class’ he afforded the Celtic support when he did his midnight flit to the Leicester City job.
They didn’t give us one…point blank refused, & that’s what they’ll get in return.
